Project Date: 2013
Project Role: Web Developer
Project Description: This was a blog redesign. The final product here is amazing. Very clean, neat design, as intended. I did not design the new logo here, however I did create a fresh WordPress theme from scratch, with a lot of nice blog functionality.

Really got to the heart of WordPress with this theme.

Project URL: http://www.fostersgrille.com
Project Date: 2013
Project Role: Web Developer (Designed in cooperation with McKinsey Development)
Project Description: This was a WordPress theme I created from scratch based on a design from MKD. This project does a great job of giving customers the ‘feel’ of Foster’s Grille, in a clean, professional manner. Lots of fun stuff in this theme – multiple custom templates, forms, etc.

This project was created with WordPress.

Project Date: 2013
Project Role: Web Developer (Designed in cooperation with McKinsey Development)
Project Description: This was a theme I created and developed from scratch, based on a design from McKinsey Development. This was a fun project with some really cool features – audio player, blogreel, CSS3 scaling background image, etc.

This project was created with WordPress.

Vanish Records - Web Development

Project URL: http://www.vanishrecords.samkirtley.com
Project Date: 2012
Project Role: Web Designer
Project Description: This was my first ever project for a record label – recreated on my own server (it was live at a time). I created the entire site, minus the logo. Working with audio files over the web can be tricky at times, however I came away with a crisp solution here – including a pop-out audio player. Definitely went for a grungy-type feel, especially with the given logo.

I used a wide range of Adobe products on this project along with WordPress.

Sam Kirtley - Web Development

Project URL: http://samkirtley.com/portfolio_first/
Project Date: 2011
Project Role: Web Designer
Project Description: This was my first ever portfolio site, created upon graduation of college. Luckily, I’ve learned the value of subtlety since then.

However, there are some things I really like about this site, which were quite innovative for me at the time. I really like the idea of a 1-page site, with a fixed navigation bar at the top. Maybe I will go back to that on my next portfolio site.

This was also the first site I ever hand-coded, from scratch, without using a theme created by someone else. A piece of history.

Miami Heat Flash Project - Web Development

Project URL: http://www.samkirtley.com/flash/
Project Date: 2010
Project Role: Web Designer
Project Description: I created this project as I was learning Flash Development, which also coincided with my favorite basketball team forming “The Big 3″ – Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, and Chris Bosh.

The main goal of the project was to highlight the 3 mega stars, while showing some of the cool capabilities Adobe Flash has to offer – I do really enjoy the functionality of the home page scroller.

This project was created in Adobe Flash.

Child Health Associates - Web Development

Project Date: 2012
Project Role: Web Developer (Designed in cooperation with McKinsey Development)
Project Description: I created this custom WordPress theme from scratch with a design from McKinsey Development. This design is a little gradient heavy for my liking, but my role here was simply coding and functionality. There are a few fun features here, such as an image randomizer on the bottom right.

This project was created in WordPress.

Airlie Center - Web Development

Project URL: http://www.airlie.com
Project Date: 2012
Project Role: Web Developer (Designed in cooperation with McKinsey Development)
Project Description: This project was a custom theme I created from scratch with a design from MKD. This is one of my favorite projects from a development standpoint. There are tons of theme extras here – multiple navigation bars, custom page templates, custom fields, different post types, multiple sliders, photo galleries, forms, etc. Pretty much all the goods.

This site was created in WordPress.

Just Sports Debate - Web Development

Project URL: http://samkirtley.com/justsportsdebate2/
Project Date: 2012
Project Role: Web Designer
Project Description: Just Sports Debate is one of my favorite projects of all time – I am a huge sports fan.

The site was intended to be a sports debate centric, social media outlet. In conjunction with WordPress, this site offered a lot of awesome stuff – users could register, chat with each other, have a profile page and news feed, send private messages, etc. There was really a TON of cool functionality here. It was later determined that the group could better thrive through Facebook itself, so I have recreated the site on my own server.

I used WordPress, BuddyPress, and an array of Adobe products to create this.

Sun Dog - Web Development

Project URL: http://www.sunpup.com/
Project Date: 2013
Project Role: Web Developer (Designed in cooperation with McKinsey Development)
Project Description: This was a custom WordPress theme I stepped in and completed once it was already underway – which can sometimes be more challenging than starting from scratch, I found.

This project had a massive amount of content to organize, however working hand in hand with MKD helped the process along. I developed the site to function as an E-Commerce site in the future – the functionality is there, just not active at the moment.

This site was created in WordPress.

Halls Corner Automotive - Web Development

banner_hallscorner

Project URL: http://www.hallscornerautomotive.com

Project Description: I designed this website for a local repair shop. The goal was to create a rugged, auto-repair type feel to the site, while allowing customers to easily access and print coupons for the shop.

I used a variety of Adobe products on this project. The site was created in Joomla.

Project URL: http://www.mailboxmediava.com
Project Date: 2012
Project Role: Web Designer
Project Description: I designed the Mailbox Media project from start to finish – logo included. My objective was to have an extremely image heavy site for this project. Mailbox Media is a direct mail company, and I wanted the beautiful, crisp prints they offer to be on full display.

I created this project using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and WordPress.

My Crisp White Sheets – Alternate - Web Development

Project URL: http://www.samkirtley.com/whitesheets2/
Project Date: 2013
Project Role: Web Designer
Project Description: This was a blog redesign – and while the other design was chosen to go live, I really like this version as well. I designed the logo and created a custom theme from scratch. I really like the CSS3 navigation bar here – I think it is quite slick.

This site was created in WordPress.

Aspen House Apartments - Web Development

Project Date: 2013
Project Role: Web Developer (Designed in cooperation with McKinsey Development)
Project Description: This is another WordPress theme I helped develop and redesign in combination with McKinsey Development, which included a color scheme overhaul. I was also involved in various theme edits and development assignments.

DLT - Web Development

banner_dlt

Project URL: http://www.dlt.com
Project Date: 2012
Project Role: Web Developer
Project Description: This website was already up and running before I was involved – I made some back end improvements to the site you see today. This including developing an events feed on the homepage, implementing a mobile device friendly slider, and implementing Google Maps to the events pages, to name a few.

This is a Drupal project.
